Mandi is a major city in the center of Himachal Pradesh and is a municipal council in Mandi district which was earlier famed as Mandav Nagar. This amazing hilly area has its roots from great Rishi Mandav who meditated here and the severity of his prayers the hard rocks turned into black where he meditated. The place is referred as Mandi which literally means 'an open market' in Hindi.

Lying along the left bank of the River Beas, Mandi is a captivating place in the foothills of the medium sized Shivalik ranges at an altitude of 760 meters (2495 ft) that beholds many attentions. One hour drive from Mandi, Rewalsar is located on the attractive mountain spur. This outstanding location will take you to the most amazing Rewlasar Lake that is surrounded by woodland and high hills and presents a variety of natural magnificence and is famous for floating islands of Reed. Rewalsar is famous for different monasteries, Gurudwaras and temples. There are two Tibetan monasteries at the either ends of the Lake. The Gurudwara located in Rewalsar was built in 1930 by Raja Joginder Sen of Mandi. It commemorates Guru Gobind Singh's visit, when he sought to evolve a common strategy with the hill rulers against the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The visitors will be mesmerized to find three Hindu temples dedicated to the sage Lomas, Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva.
